I was really excited for this interview.
My guest is Kevin Kelly, senior maverick at Wired Magazine, which he co-founded in 1993. He also co-founded the All Species Foundation, a non-profit aimed at cataloguing and identifying every living species on earth, as well as the Rosetta project, which is building a record of all documented human language.
He has written numerous best sellers and is held in high regard by many for his perspectives on technology and its relevance to history, biology and society. He could be called ‘the Prophet of Silicon Valley’, especially given the future outlined in his best-selling book ‘The Inevitable – which is the focus of our discussion today.
It takes the vast swathes of technological developments that we’ve seen over the past few decades and paints a marvellous picture of what they could, and most likely will, inevitably mean for the future.
It’s a thoroughly entertaining and thought-provoking read.
In today’s episode, we discuss some of these future shaping developments, including:
- Artificial intelligence and the ‘cognifying’ of everything
- The BlockchainInformation abundance
- Startup advice for would-be innovators
- And how these technologies will help us understand who we are.
In this episode, we explore the technologies that will shape our future as outlined in the book 'The Inevitable' by Kevin Kelly.
